Two Brussels Police Officers Stabbed by Muslim; Terrorist Attack “Suspected”

Shortly after Brussels Nord station was evacuated over a bomb scare, two police officers were stabbed on Wednesday afternoon in the Schaerbeek neighborhood of eastern Brussels. One officer was stabbed in the neck and another in the stomach, while a third officer who arrived at the scene suffered a broken nose. The one who got off the lightest was the attacker, who was only shot by the policemen in the leg and was taken away by ambulance.
The attack happened near a main road in a region linked to previous terror attacks.
Authorities named the attacker as “Hicham D”, 43, of Belgian nationality, who was known to Belgian police and is believed to have links to jihadists who travelled to Syria to fight. He also served as a Belgian army officer until 2009.
“We have reason to believe that the incident was a terrorist attack,” a spokesman for the Belgian federal prosecutor's office, Eric Van Der Sypt, said.
If he was known to police, why did they wait until he acted on his beliefs and attacked his victims?
Jihad Watch responds: No kidding, really? “Reason to believe that the incident was a terrorist attack”? But isn’t this guy mentally ill, the usual excuse given for Muslim attackers? What’s happening — an outbreak of truth in Brussels?
