SJP to Kent State U – 'Remove Golda's Picture'

In Kent State University there is a quote from Golda Meir saying the following: “Trust yourself. Create the kind of self that you will be happy to live with all your life. Make the most of yourself by fanning the tiny, inner sparks of possibility into flames of achievement.” This quote is under a photo of Golda Meir hanging in Kent State U.

The SJP, “Students for the Justice of Palestine” have mastered the art of  using the right to be offended, which they claim is included in the First Amendment of the U.S. Constitution, to their advantage.  Since Golda Meir  participated in 'ethnic cleansing' according to SJP president Yousof Mousa, he demands  that the exhibit and quote be removed .  Of course to say Golda Meir participated in ethnic cleansing is a privilege unique to anyone speaking out against Israel and Jews, after all that's what freedom of speech is all about! Every other minority has the right to be offended by the slightest “trigger” and silence the offender preferably but not limited to shouting about their rights protected by the First Amendment.

Another anti-Israel advocacy group “Palestine Legal” threatened to take legal action against Kent State University for refusing to remove the display. They wrote to Kent State President Beverly Warren, accusing the university of violating the First Amendment rights of SJP and Title VI of the Civil Rights Act of 1964— which prohibits programs and activities that receive federal funding from discriminating on the basis of race, color or national origin. On that basis they claim that the university has no right to federal funding because they have a picture of Golda Meir on the wall so they are abetting the ethnic cleansing she did.

The letter also demanded an apology for not protecting students from “a network of well-funded right-wing Zionist organizations and for failure to provide a “safe space” for pro-Palestinian Arab students to express their opinions.” The University also failed to protect them from accusations that they support terrorism.

Well do they support terrorism or don't they?

According to their definition, if it's against Israel it's not terror but if it's against them it's at least an aggression that must be met with the full brunt of the law!

To his credit, the Senior Vice President for Academic Affairs and Provost Todd Diacon wrote: “Removing the quote of Golda Meir, which is nonsectarian and which reasonably could be read by many as inspirational, would be counter to our core institutional value of supporting a diversity of cultures, beliefs, identities and thought.”

The truth is Golda's quote about “being the person you would be happy to live with” is quite offensive to people whose sole mission in this world is to exercise their right to be offended. They have no intention of taking any responsibility for their actions and may be offended by what they see when they look in the mirror! They aren't happy to live with themselves not having any acievements to show. Perhaps they can sue themselves and get the federal government to pay for it!
