A Kiddush Hashem took place at the Rubin Cleaners in Bnei Brak: In the middle of a pressurized work day before Passover, the staff found the huge sum of NIS 25,000, in pocket of a businessman's suit sent for dry cleaning.
The money was immediately given to the Cleaners owner, Nachman Eisenberg, who wasted no time and called the businessman to return it. “When one of the cleaning machines was running, a big wad of money fell out of one of the suits,” Eisenberg told Behadrei Haredim. “I found his name and phone number and called him. At first I tried saying I was from the lottery, but it didn’t work, and finally I told him that he forgot money in his suit,” Nachman said smiling.
The businessman was not surprised when he got the call. “He received the news calmly and will come get the money in the next few hours,” said Eisenberg, who says that this is not the first time something like this has happened to him. “We have fulfilled the mitzva of returning a lost item properly. This is a basic and obvious obligation, and this is not the first time that such a case has happened. We’ve had stranger cases, in which people forgot much larger sums of money and valuables.”
