People misuse words for a purpose. Quite often a label will either be a reason to embrace something or an excuse to stay away from it. Misusing words distorts reality and prevents people from partaking in enjoyable experiences they would probably love if not misled by misused words. the word 'brainwashing' is a classic example of a misused word.
