Chief Rabbinate and Vatican Make Joint Statement

The Israeli Chief Rabbinate and the Vatican have annual meetings to discuss pertinent issues. This year the topic was seeking peace and preventing violence in the name of religion. At the conclusion of the meeting yesterday the 'Joint Commission of the Chief Rabbinate of Israel's Delegation for Relations with the Catholic Church and the Holy See's Commission for Religious Relations with the Jews'  issued a statement asking world leaders to world leaders to retract UNESCO's vote to deny the connection between the Jewish people and their holy sites in Jerusalem last month.
Moshe Dagan the Director of the Chief Rabbinate led the meeting and pointed out the hypocrisy of UNESCO and its members who deliberately ignore the connection between the Jewish people and Jerusalem, especially with the Western Wall. This is a reward for terror and is patently false.
At the meetings conclusion a statement was issued, calling for the promotion of peace, and asking religious leaders to take responsibility and put an end to violence carried out in the name of religion.
Unfortunately this message was ignored by the U N General Assembly that with similar hypocrisy, voted overwhelmingly in favor of the UNESCO resolution and other anti-Israel resolutions yesterday.
