Israel news:

Syrian Newborn Flown to Israel for Lifesaving Operation: A 2 day old baby born to Syrian refugees in Cyprus was flown to Israel for a lifesaving operation. The baby was born with a heart defect and the Cyprus' Health Ministry called upon Shmuel Revel the Israeli Ambassador to Nicosia, asking his aid in securing permission to fly the baby to Israel for a lifesaving surgery. The Israeli Foreign Ministry turned to Interior Minister Aryeh Deri right before Shabbat to receive his permission to bring the baby and his father, a Syrian refugee, to Israel. All the relevant ministries worked together in a concerted effort and enabled the baby and father to come to Israel immediately. The baby arrived with his father in Israel and is slated to have the lifesaving surgery in a day or 2 in the Tel Hashomer Hospital.

Israel to Leave UNESCO: In light of the General Assembly’s brazen vote against Trump’s Jerusalem declaration, PM Netanyahu instructed Carmel Shama Hacohen, Israel’s Ambassador to UNESCO to submit Israel’s official letter of withdrawal from UNESCO to its Director-General Audrey Azoulay. Previously, the U.S. State Department also declared that by 2019 the U.S. would be leaving UNESCO because of UNESCO’s bias against Israel.
