Strong rains are falling all across Israel. Presently, (Tuesday) there are signs of weather caused damage. This morning, for fear of getting hit by lightning, a Israir flight from Tel Aviv to Eilat was delayed. It took off and had to return to Tel Aviv.
The Coastal Highway, Highway 1 was flooded for over an hour between the Atlit Interchange and Kfar Shemaryahu Interchange.
As ancient wall dating back to the First Temple also collapsed. This wall is in the Dan River Nature Reserve and it is considered quite an ancient wall. Efforts were made in the past few years to designate the site as a UNESCO World Heritage Site.
Teams of restoration workers and archaeologists from the Israel National Parks Service visited the site to estimate the damage and plan out the restoration. Dr. Tzvika Tzuk the head of the National Parks Service Archeology Department said: “It causes me pain to see forces of nature cause great harm to sites of unique heritage and historical significance. We will rally to restore the wall to its previous state; for ourselves and for future generations.”
