Street in Nazareth Illith to be Named after Rabbi Shteinman

Handicapped Protestors Blocked PM Netanyahu’s Residence in Caesarea: Last night the northern entrance to Caesarea was blocked by a group of handicapped people protesting the current deal being negotiated with the government which hasn’t yet been signed. Later the leaders of their protest rode to the PM’s residence.

7 rioters were arrested as security forces remain on high alert because of riots and disturbances these past few days. 7 rioters were arrested for throwing Molotov cocktails or shooting fireworks at the security forces.

Chabad Rabbi’s car stoned on the way to Army bases for Hanukkah parties: Rabbi Daniel Ariel from Beitar Illith and his 4 children were uninjured.  But the car’s front window was smashed, and the large menorah attached to the top of the car was damaged. The Rabbi said: “Light wins against darkness and we can all play a part in spreading the light.”

Teva workers blocked Golda Meir Road in Jerusalem as part of the protest for the 1,700 Teva workers that are getting fired and losing their jobs. There is an organized general strike called by the Histadrut worker’s union affecting the whole country. Teva was massively subsidized by the government with great tax breaks and other incentives. If they actually decide to lay off workers and move operations to a foreign country Israel must ask for a total refund of these subsidies.

Netanyahu has 3 goals Vis a vis Teva: “1, reduce the harm to the workers. 2 prevent factories closing in Jerusalem and 3 to ensure that Teva stays in Israel.”

A fire caused by poorly placed Hanukkah menorah burns home in Pisgat Zeev: The menorah was placed next to flammable furniture and flammable materials. Thick black smoke enveloped the entire building endangering its inhabitants. A quick response by the fire department prevented loss of life as they had to evacuate people trapped in the building. The Fire Department warns to exercise safety measures when lighting the Hanukkah menorah.

Street to be named after Rabbi Shteinman in Nazareth Illith: The mayor of Nazareth Illith, Ronen Plout decided on the day of Rabbi Shteinman’s passing that he would call a street after the Torah giant. On Friday accompanied by the city rabbi, Rabbi Yeshayahu Herzl , MK Rabbi Moshe Gafni and others they went to pay a condolence call to Rabbi Shteinman’s children. The mayor said he merited speaking to rabbi Shteinman a few times about Nazereth Illith and it was dear to him. He then asked the family for their consent to name a street after him and they acquiesced.

Romanian king dies: King Michael I, known as King Mihai passed away and was buried in a royal ceremony attended by many members of Europe’s royalty. The Israeli foreign ministry sent an official letter of condolences calling the king “a friend of the Jewish nation”. The letter said: The Government of Israel shares in the pain of the royal family and the Romanian nation upon the death of King Mihai a friend of the Jewish nation. We remember with admiration the royal family’s volunteering especially Queen Elena who was recognized as a righteous among the nations, during the dark days of the Romanian Jewish holocaust.”

Austrian Government recognizes Israel as a Jewish State: The Freedom Party’s platform for the new government which is actually a nationalist rightist party recognizes Israel as a Jewish state.
