Israel's Prison Service on Sunday released footage from its closed circuit cameras showing Marwan Barghouti the Palestinian hunger strike leader and instigator breaking his fast. Prisoner Service spokesman Assaf Librati said Marwan Barghouti who organized the hunger strike ate a candy bar on May 5 and cookies on April 27. Since they increased surveillance they caught Barghouti eating on their close circuit TV cameras.
Israeli media footage from prison closed circuit cameras shows Barghouti fully clothed sitting on a toilet seat as a chair unwrapping something and putting it in his mouth. In different footage he is eating something near the sink in his cell.
Qadoura Fares, is a leader of an advocacy group for the prisoners. He says the footage is false and that Barghouti has no access to food. “This is psychological warfare… The prisoners will not buy this account from Israel… and will continue striking.”
Barghouti, who lead the second Palestinian uprising is in prison since 2002 serving five life sentences for organizing two shooting attacks and a bombing that killed five people. As PA President Mahmoud Abbas is 82 many think that Barghouti is most likely to the next PA leader as he is the most popular. Palestinians are supporting the hunger strike with large protest rallies. They say the strike is to improve prisoner’s conditions and allow more family visits to the prisoners. Israeli officials say Barghouti organized the strike to remind everyone he’s still around and to up his ratings in the Palestinian street.

Public Security Minister Gilad Erdan said: “Barghouti is a murderer and hypocrite who urged his fellow prisoners to strike and suffer while he ate behind their back. This hunger strike was never about the conditions of the convicted terrorists, which meet international standards.”
Barghouti's unspoken message to fellow Arabs fasting is as the saying goes, ‘your life is a risk I’m willing to take’.
